Calligraphy is the art of both ideal writing and an ideal soul.

Calligraphy is an ancient visual art form related to writing. It can be traced back to the very beginning of written language itself. It is the design and execution of lettering with a broad tip instrument, brush, or other writing instruments. A contemporary calligraphic practice can be defined as the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner. Modern calligraphy ranges from functional inscriptions and designs to fine-art pieces where the letters may or may not be readable. Classical calligraphy differs from typography and non classical hand-lettering though a calligrapher may practice both.

My loving relationship & love affair with calligraphy

My name is Yogesh Ranadive and my journey of personalised creative art of alphabet writing started with Devanagari script. While in school, I happened to be attracted more towards the art than reading and writing. My hand in drawing and painting was appreciated more which resulted in keeping others at the backdrop. For last ten years my love for the alphabet writing re-emerged which instigated my calligraphy designing work. I started doing calligraphic designs mostly in Devanagari and Roman scripts and I am currently in process of adding new scripts. My affection for calligraphy gave me such happiness that I could not sustain myself from not passing it to others. This enthrallment helped me in initiating my venture of calligraphy workshops. It is so much fascinating to see the instigation of same happiness on the faces of people aging between six to sixty years with which I am associated with for the last decade.

Medium of expression to the infinite world of possibilities

I have a habit of incorporating different surfaces for calligraphy. Not only paper but also shoes, pillow-covers, mugs, wall-clocks and umbrellas are some of such different surfaces which have been graphitised with calligraphy. Incorporating such different surfaces during in my calligraphy workshops has been the high point of creative expression for those taking part in it In simple h words, Calligraphy for me is not just an art, but also a medium of expression. This expression always has to be pretty and beautiful. That makes the art of calligraphy mostly experimental. I don’t believe in following any particular style of calligraphy form. There are a few influences, few people and styles for sure which have enchanted me, Spiritual calligraphy, spiral calligraphy, black lettering and devanagari and gothic family, to name a few. But I would like to make myself associated with my own ‘Wonderful Calligraphy’ style because I firmly believe that which makes you wonder is always captivating. l am captivated by calligraphy.
